9th August 2010 - Serra Estrella - Task 2- News From The Goal Field

News just in from the goal field - it seems that Lucas Bernardin was first in goal and the only woman in the goal field at the moment is Seiko Fukuoka Naville.

At the last check we now have 33 pilots in goal

9th August 2010 - Serra da Estrella, Portugal - Task 2 - 2nd Turnpoint Reached [16:10]

The leading gaggle (as far as we can tell) has now passed turnpoint 2 and is on the way to the goal [another 30km to go]

9th August 2010 - Serra da Estrela, Portugal - Day 2 - Task 2 - Update [15:00]

The race is on and the live tracking is working. Unfortunately, due to a small technical problem , we are only seeing 40 of the competitors on the live tracking screens. We will work to resolve this as soon as we can.

For the benefit of those who don't have access to live tracking, the first competitors took tunpoint 1 about 5 minutes ago.

Conditions seem good. However, visibility is quite bad so the ground staff who are following the task are finding it quite difficult to keep track of the gaggles.

9th August 2010 - Serra da Estrela, Portugal - Day 2 - Task 2 - 112.4km Race to Goal

We have details of today's task. It is a zig zag 112.4km Race to Goal with a remote goal at Fuentes de Onoro to the east.

9th August 2010 - Serra da Estrela, Portugal - Day 2 - Morning [11:15]

Its a lovely morning here in Serra da Estrella. The weather looks more settled than yesterday and it all looks good for a task today.

The competitors have left for the take-off and we are getting set to receive the details of today's race.

8th August 2010 - Serra da Estrela, Portugal - Day 1 - Task 1 - Cancelled due to approaching thunderstorms [14:10]

The competitors were airborne but there are thunderstorms approaching and the decision has been taken to cancel the race for safety reasons.

The live trackers will continue to operate but there will be no scores today.

The retrieve is under way - more news as we get it.

The times have been announced - the window opened at 14:00 - the start is at 14:45 and the race deadline will be 18:00

The live tracking is running and the live leaderboard will run throughout the task.

The first morning is always a busy time - especially when the weather is looking good for a task. The pilots are all on the take-off and a provisional task has been set - we are just awaiting times.

The Paragliding World Cup 2010 - Event 7 in Serra da Estrela, Portugal is under way. Registration began at 3pm and is running now.
