The opening ceremony will be held in front of Hotel Fontana on Saturday July 11th at 19:30 and will be attended by the Mayor of Buzet.

For entertainment there will be a short concert by local male choir Klapa Boškarin from Hum (The smallest town in the world), and some music.

For pilots and guests there will be a buffet, with food and drinks, and also an offer of domestic Istrian products typical of Buzet and its surrounding area such as truffles, wines, brandies, olive oil, cakes, etc. to see, taste and buy.

There will be a video wall placed in front of the Hotel Fontana for those who wish to follow the progress of the competition throughout the week.

Altitude Restrictions

Due to active airspace in the region of Buzet there will be an altitude limit for competition pilots of 2438 metres (8000 feet) amsl which will be controlled by altitude checks during the download at the end of each task.

The information used for this event will be GPS Altitude and, therefore, all pilots are required to use at least one GPS unit which records GPS altitude along with the track.

Aircotec and Flytec have recently done some work on their instruments' firmware to support pilots in tasks where such restrictions apply.

Aircotec XC Trainer : Up until now, the XC Trainer only recorded barometric altitude. They now offer a special firmware version which records and displays GPS altitude as well.Unfortunately, they have not put this version on their website yet - pilots with XC Trainer units should contact AIrcotec asap to obtain this update. If you can't obtain it directly from Aircotec, ask Swiss pilot Urs Schoenauer about it during registration. Important: During download, a pilot must choose which altitude to include in the download (Baro or GPS).

Flytec 5020/5030/6020/6030: These units have always recorded GPS and Baro altitude but the GPS altitude was not displayed until now. Flytec have added "Alt GPS" as an additional user field. The firmware update can be downloaded at http://www.flytec.ch/Firmware.htm, under "Special Competition Firmware für Serie 5000", "Testversion: 6020_V307c.moc" (for the 6020) and "Testversion 6030_V328p.moc" (for the 6030).

It is very important to download the test versions, not the official versions, since only those contain the additional field (and lots of additional fixes...).
