2nd June 2009 - Denizli, Turkey - Day 3 - Task 3 - Evening Update [22:00]

Its been a great day - the goal for today was 83km away in a straight line and the task itself was 111km over some incredible scenery. Just short of the goal (about 2 - 3 km) something happened and approximately 40 pilots ended up landing in fields to the north west of Dinar. 63 pilots, however, struggled on through this problem and made the goal with the winners completing the course in just over 3 and a half hours.

We tracked down the winning team for task 2 - this is team Parapente Mag.

2nd June 2009 - Day 3 - Task 3 - Afternoon Update [19:00]

This task is tearing the field apart. A few pilots landed around the second turnpoint and a few more aruond the third but then a huge group or 30 or more have landed within 4km of the goal. At the time of writing there are 63 pilots in goal.

We expect the retrieve to take a while because the goal is 83km away so the results will be quite late tonight.

Day 2 Task 2

1st June 2009 - Day 2 - Denizli, Turkey - Morning [09:40]

The first day is always very busy for the organisation - yesterday was worse because we discovered a problem with the waypoints we were using (but only after we had uploaded them into every GPS that is here) so we had to reload every machine (approx 300 GPS's).... this took a while !

Things have settled down now and Day 2 is here - the weather is looking good and 132 pilots have been loaded into busses and sent up to take off.

Details of today's task will be here as soon as it has been decided.

Meanwhile, a few pilots here are keeping Blogs about the events - here are the details.

31st May 2009 - Day 1 - Task 1 - Denizli, Turkey

After a long day for all the results are finally calculated.

Winning the race overall was Michael Von Wachter (Venezuela) in a time of 2 hours 5 mins 19 seconds.

First woman for the day was Renáta KUHNOVÁ in a time of 2 hours 19 mins 25 seconds.

Apologies for the delay in the results. We ran into a relatively minor, but very time consuming, technical problem last night which has taken most of today to put right.

31st May 2009 - Day 1 - Task 1 - 80.1 km Race to Goal won by Michael Von Wachter

The race and the day are over and our first task appears to have been won by Michael Von Wachter (Venezuela). He was closely followed into goal by Yassen Savov (Bulgaria) and, in 4th, Orlin Dimov (also Bulgaria) so the Bulgarians are off to a great start in the Nations competition.

Here are the three of them (2nd - 1st - 4th)

Day 1 - Task Winners

For those who want to check out the action before the race even begins, there is a live video stream from the take off - you can get that (and the plug-in you need to view it) - HERE

For people looking for the IGC files and the animations, the IGC files will be available very shortly. The animation takes a little longer since the IGC files have to be sent to PGLive and then they have to upload them into their application so be a little patient. As soon as they are available we will add a link to the existing animations from Korea.

One of the goal fields here is so close to the hotels that some of the pilots fly across the goal line and then back to their hotel afterwards...here's a pilot's eye view.

This part of the country has a very famous landmark, the spectacular calcified formations of Pamukkale (the cotton castle) - its a hundred metres from today's goal...
