17th June 2009 - Talloires, France - Day 4 - Task 3 - 49.2km Elapsed Time race won by Aljaz Valic (Slovenia)

The day began slowly with some very stable air and it was fairly late before we had a possibility of a task. However, the conditions improved and the thermals started working well. Eventually, we had 96 pilots in goal.

The race was won by Aljaz Valic (Slovenia / Mastercard - aforma - kovk) in a time of 1 hour 12 minutes 29 seconds.

Top woman today was again Elisa Houdry (France / Abac) who made goal in a time of 1 hour 23 minutes 52 seconds.

And our top team for the day (winning €100 to spend in a local restaurant) is Abac / Niviuk.

All the results are available via the links at the top of the page.

Finally, there is a fourth part to the video report for yesterday

16th June 2009 - Day 3 - Task 2 - Result Update [01:03]

We rely on technology to give us the results in record time - which it does - BUT, every now and again it goes a bit wrong.....

It is our sad duty to report that the results you read earlier on this site are not, in fact, correct.

It seems that David Cubel's GPS was having a nice time visiting parts of the world that David himself has never heard of. In short, the track log contained a lot of errors which confused the scoring system and confirmed that he was the first in goal. We should point out here that all results, until they have been verified and until a period for objection has passed, are provisional - and this case highlights the reason for this rule.

David himself was the first to point this error out and, upon checking the track logs (manually - as we always do) we would now like to inform you that the results are as follows :-

In first place, with a GOAL time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 16 seconds was Peter FRAUENSCHUH (Austria).

None of the other results are affected and we would like to thank David for being so candid and helpful with this technical problem.

The adjusted results are available on the website now.

16th June 2009 - Talloires, France - Day 3 -Task 2 - 55.5km Race to Goal which was won by Peter Frauenschuh.

It has been a tough afternoon for our competitors. The overcast, weak conditions made the task challenging and, in the end, only 1 pilot made the goal.

The race was won by Peter FRAUENSCHUH (Austria) in a time of 2 hours 16 minutes 16 seconds.

Our best woman today is a local. Elisa Houdry (France / Abac) made a total distance of 36.51 kilometres to take the top woman place.

Winning team today is the Swing team.

16th June 2009 - Day 3 - Task 2 - 55.5 km Race to Goal

After a bit of a cloudy start to the day (a short while ago the whole takeoff had its own private cloud) - we now have a task for the day.

The race is a 55.5km cats cradle around Talloires and across lake Annecy. Start time is set for 16:45 and this is a race to the goal.

16th June 2009 - Talloires, France - Day 3 - Morning [10:30]

The weather this morning is not very nice. There is low cloud on the mountains and the sky is overcast and grey.

However, the forecast promises that it will clear this afternoon and the rest of the day will be sunny and flyable - so the busses are leaving for takeoff at 11:30 - we hope to start a task at about 14:30.

Details will be here as soon as we know more.....

Video report - June 15th

We have an on site video team this week (Philipe Broers and his camera are here). Here is the first installment of what will become a daily report on the activities here in Talloires.

15th June 2009 - Day 2 - Cancelled due to weather [16:40]

Firstly, apologies to everyone for the late update today - we have had a few issues with the internet access at HQ which has made access to the website a little difficult.

We woke this morning to cloud and fairly strong winds (certainly too strong to consider a task) so the day was cancelled early to allow the competitors some time off to explore.

At 11:30 (ish) a barbecue was started on the beach here in Talloires and a nice feed was had by all the pilots.

We are hoping for an improvement in the weather for tomorrow - meanwhile, we have an on site video team this week (Philipe Broers and his camera are here) - here is the first installment of what will become a daily report on the activities here in Talloires.

The local organisation in Talloires are also busy with their video cameras. Their daily input for the 2009 Talloires Paragliding World Cup is below
